Many of us have experienced the effects of authority abuse; it often leaves us hurt, wary, and angry. But be assured: every word of God proves true, regardless of how difficult or impossible those promises may first appear. I have heard it said, “No one speaks complete truth!” Yes, there is one—Jehovah God! His words stand without wavering in purity and promise, despite our own flaws or failures. Wise are those who hear and obey the true words of God.

Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. Proverbs 30:5

What a wonder it would be if each promise made by an authority figure was filled with truth and pure motives. If a person in authority fails us, we can forgive the unforeseen, unavoidable challenges, and unanticipated delays when we know their truth and integrity remain intact. However, when a leader makes groundless fabrications and hollow promises, or has dark motivations and abuses authority, that is wrong. His words stand without waivering in purity and promise, despite our own flaws or failures. Wise are those who hear and obey the true words of God. We find ourselves lost, hopeless, and adrift without God and his Word, from individuals to entire nations. Remember, Ephesians 6:17 reminds us the Word of the Lord is a sword—powerful, protective, reliable, penetrative. Let the promises of his Word penetrate the depths of our hearts, govern our steps, and protect us as we seek his kingdom.

Without the truth of your Word, Lord, I am without hope. Guide me today by the truth, accuracy, and effectiveness of your Word. Amen.

Don’t let us yield to temptation.
