WORD
What can we bring to the Lord? Should we bring him burnt offerings? Should we bow before God Most High with offerings of yearling calves? Should we offer him thousands of rams and ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Should we sacrifice our firstborn children to pay for our sins? No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:6–8
THOUGHT
More than lavish, showy, or dramatic sacrifices, God desires his children to do what is right throughout the day—living in accordance with the principles, standards, and the liberating life revealed in God’s Word. He desires us to love mercy and to see the world and those within it as the he does. Above all, he desires us to live a life of humility before the Father as Jesus Christ did. The Lord has clearly shown us what is good. At times, living out his commands can seem like too great a task to complete on our own, but he has provided us with his Holy Spirit to guide us along the way.
PRAYER
Father, it is my desire to worship you throughout this day. Your Word has given detail about what honors you. Guide me to the right decision for each choice facing me. May I embrace your heart of mercy in all that I do today, and may I be found walking in genuine humility as defined by you. Amen.
Give us today the food we need.
