THOUGHT
One evening I arrived home from a challenging day at work. Walking toward the house, I noticed an unexpected package sitting at the door. I took it inside, opened it, and discovered apples from a well-known orchard sent to us as a gift from some very thoughtful friends. Strange as it may sound, their gift changed the tone of the day—it went from a tone of unrest to one of peace. Thoughtful gifts, words of encouragement, and affirmation from friends are always welcomed for they can powerfully change the attitudes and direction of our days. However truly wonderful and appreciated gifts from friends are, the life-altering gifts from Jesus, our perfect friend, cannot be measured. His gift opens the door of resolve to one of humanity’s most complex issues: the internal restlessness of our hearts. PRAYER
Lord, cause my eyes to fix firmly on you, your provisions, and promises. Your promises leave no room for need if I will simply trust and obey what you have spoken. Thank you for your gift of peace through the power of forgiveness. Amen.
Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
