W O R D Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:18 THOUGHT The word begrudging sounds antiquated, but it aptly defines an ill and troubled heart. The fruit of unforgiveness is tragic—for unforgiveness keeps its victim from experiencing the fullness of the freedom of God. One who begrudges portrays a veneer of spiritual heath, but underneath it all is decay and captivity. Pride often keeps us from fully releasing grudges, forgiving freely, and walking in the fullness of God. Many Christians may carry grudges, and they often remain hidden and tucked away instead of fully released. Forgiveness is an active part of God’s plan for our own internal liberty and peace. Whatever you or I may be holding on to, the voice of God continues to extend his call of wisdom: Let it go. PRAYER Through you, Lord Jesus, I am forgiven. By your Holy Spirit, reveal any places in my heart that are harboring unforgiveness. Amen. Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
