The spiritual family of God, when healthy and functioning optimally, is a multifaceted missional force dispersing the love and life of the kingdom to a very needy world. Christ’s intent is for us to operate as a team dedicated to his mandates: the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Onward, church!

WORD A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 1 Corinthians 12:7 THOUGHT God’s grace abounds, covering and filling willing recipients who are humble and openhearted. He covers them with love, mercy beyond measure, and (of course) forgiveness. Because we’re now joined with the Father through Christ the Son, we are part of his global family. We are also now part of the family mission, which is living and sharing the message of the Christ-life. To each family member a gift is given—a divine, uniquely tooled, and crafted gift. A gift that, when used together with those received by the other sons and daughters of God, creates encouraging, edifying effects. This is God’s design: for us to enjoy spiritual growth as each person utilizes their gifts to contribute to the healthy development of the church in every aspect. This is the very reason the apostle Paul refers to Christians, the church, as the body of Christ. The physical body functions best with every part healthy and contributing, and so does the church, the spiritual body of Christ. PRAYER Thank you for the provision you have given us in your gifts distributed throughout the body of Christ. May we use them wisely under the guidance of your hand. Amen. Give us today the food we need.
