Finally, this gift is amazing because the Lord not only frees everyone who repents, but he invites them to become members of his own household. What a gift indeed!

WORD It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.” Luke 24:47 THOUGHT The most amazing of gifts is extended by God through Christ: the forgiveness of sins. First, this gift of forgiveness is amazing because God had no need of us—yet he moved on our behalf to rescue us when we ourselves committed the offense. In our sin, we were guilty and worthy of the death sentence, but by his mercy he provided a path to freedom. Second, this gift is amazing because forgiveness is not limited to a few favored people, a specific nationality, or a particular age range; it’s available to everyone who would repent of their sin. Finally, this gift is amazing because the Lord not only frees everyone who repents, but he invites them to become members of his own household. What a gift indeed! PRAYER Lord, I am amazed by and grateful for your depth of mercy and love, your act of forgiveness, and the life abiding in your marvelous grace. Amen. Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
