WORD The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is his name! Exodus 15:3 THOUGHT During the holiday season, we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. Immortality took mortal form as Emmanuel, God with us, came to earth. The holidays, especially the time during Christmas, are often associated with peace, gentleness, tranquility, and the celebration of the Messiah and all he would accomplish for the kingdom of God. Christ is gentle and humble—the Prince of Peace—but our Lord is also a warrior. He is fearless, noble, righteously justified, and unstoppable. He is the conquering King of kings, resolute in his holy mission. Jesus stands victorious against every obstacle and weapon formed against him. And he stands to disable the weapons formed against us. His warfare and tactical plans differ from those of the rulers of the world, but his power to overcome all opposition to his kingdom is unyielding and unmatched. The Lord is a warrior—he is the Holy Conqueror and our Deliverer from the evil one. PRAYER Lord, you deliver me from the destruction of darkness by your mighty power. Battles may rage, but the war is won. No weapon formed against me will stand. Amen. But rescue us from the evil one.
